Hoteles más Verdes and the SDGs

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)

The SDGs were adopted by the United Nations in 2015, as part of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. They are a call to action to walk the path towards the elimination of violent conflicts, human right abuses and environmental degradation throughout 17 goals that aim at integrating the economic growth, social welfare, and environmental protection.

The SDGs and the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC) criteria

Our Sustainable Hotel Management Standard “Hoteles más Verdes”, being recognized by the GSTC, is aligned with their criteria, which show a high correlation with the 17 SDGs. For more information about the relationship between the GSTC criteria and the SDGs, you can visit the following site: GSTC and the SDGs | GSTC.

The SDGs and the Sustainable Hotel Management Standard “Hoteles más Verdes”

Each of the 17 SDGs have targets and indicators to measure its progress. We have identified those indicators that show a high correlation with the “Hoteles más Verdes” criteria.

By comparing at this level of detail, we pretend to identify those SDGs that only have some indicator related to some criteria. This does not mean the unidentified criteria are not related to some SDG, but that only those that demonstrate a close relationship with the specific indicator appear in this section.

By selecting the desired SDG, a list will be displayed with the corresponding indicators and the associated “Hoteles más Verdes” criteria. For more information about each criteria, visit the Sustainable Hotel Management Standard “Hoteles más Verdes”, where you will find each criteria according to its corresponding number shown here.

This way, the organizations will be able to learn in detail how they can contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals by implementing the certification granted by Hoteles más Verdes. We encourage certified accommodations to publicly commit to the 2030 Agenda.
